Comments and mentions
Comments are where the conversation about the work happens. Instead of email or chat in another app, you write directly on the thing you are talking about: a card, a project, or a space (a room or area of the job). The conversation stays attached to the work, so anyone who opens it later sees the whole story in one place.
Where you can comment
Section titled “Where you can comment”You can leave comments in three places, and they all work the same way:
- On a card. This is the most common spot. Open a card and the comment thread sits under its details. Use it to ask a question, flag a problem, or agree on a decision about that one piece of work.
- On a project. The project page has its own thread for things that are about the whole job rather than a single card.
- On a space. A space (a room or area like the kitchen or floor 2) has its own thread for talk about that one place.
What you can do here
Section titled “What you can do here”- Write a comment with simple formatting and post it.
- Attach images and documents, or paste a screenshot straight in.
- Mention a teammate, a product, or a space with
@so the right person gets pulled in. - Reply to a comment to keep a back-and-forth together as a thread.
- Like a comment with a heart to say “seen” or “agreed” without adding noise.
- Edit or delete your own comments.
Who can comment
Section titled “Who can comment”What you can do depends on your access to the project:
- Contributors (people who can change things on a project) can write comments, reply, like, and edit or delete their own comments.
- Viewers (people with view-only access) can read the whole conversation but cannot add to it.
You can only edit or delete comments you wrote yourself. If your company’s subscription has lapsed and the account is read-only, everyone can still read comments but nobody can post new ones until billing is sorted out.
How to write a comment
Section titled “How to write a comment”- Open the card, project or space.
- Click into the comment box (it reads “Write a comment…”).
- Type your message. Use the small toolbar for bold, italic and links if you want them.
- Click Post comment, or press Cmd+Enter (Mac) or Ctrl+Enter (Windows) to send it without reaching for the mouse.
Your comment appears at the top of the thread straight away. On a card, anyone else looking at the same card sees it appear live, without refreshing the page.
How to mention someone with @
Section titled “How to mention someone with @”A mention is a way to tag someone so they get a notification and know you need them.
- While writing, type
@followed by the start of a name. - A short list pops up. Keep typing to narrow it down.
- Click the person you mean. Their name turns into a coloured tag in your comment.
- Finish your comment and post it. The person you mentioned gets a notification.
You can mention more than the people on the team. The same @ menu also finds products and spaces linked to the project, so you can point to a specific item or room in your message. When you mention a file or product on a card, Wyroo links it to that card for you, so it is easy to find again.
How to attach a file
Section titled “How to attach a file”You can add pictures and documents to a comment in three ways:
- Click the paper-clip icon below the comment box and pick a file.
- Drag a file from your computer and drop it onto the comment box.
- Copy an image (for example a screenshot) and paste it straight in. It uploads on its own.
You can attach JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, PDF, Word and Excel files, up to 10 MB each. Images show as thumbnails you can click to view full size. Other files show as a download link.
How to reply in a thread
Section titled “How to reply in a thread”A reply keeps a back-and-forth together so the conversation does not get scattered.
- Under the comment you want to answer, click Reply.
- A reply box opens, already addressed to the author with an
@mention so they get notified. - Write your reply and post it. It appears indented under the original, as part of that thread.
The author of the comment you replied to gets a notification, so they know to come back.
Editing, liking and deleting
Section titled “Editing, liking and deleting”- Edit. On your own comment, click Edit, change the text, and click Save. The comment shows a small “Edited” note afterwards. If your edit adds a new mention, that person is notified (people already mentioned are not pinged again).
- Like. Click the heart on any comment to like it; click again to remove your like. Hover the heart to see who else liked it.
- Delete. On your own comment, click Delete. You are asked to confirm first. The comment is removed and shows as “This comment was deleted” so the thread still reads in order.
Tip: Mention the person who needs to act, rather than relying on them to spot the comment. A mention sends them a notification; a plain comment on a card may not.
Tip: Keep one thread per topic. If a card comment turns into a new subject, reply to keep it together, or start a fresh comment so each conversation is easy to follow.
