Your notes

A note is a small personal reminder, just for you. It is the place to jot something down before it slips your mind: “call the tiler”, “check the door measurements”, “order the lime paint”. Your notes are private. Nobody else on a project sees them, even when you link one to a project.

This is different from a card. A card is shared work that lives on a project’s board, where the whole team can see it. A note is just for you. When a note grows into real work for the team, you can turn it into a card in one step (see further down).

The My notes page has two lists: your Open notes at the top, and Completed notes below. Each note has a title and can carry a bit more:

  • A description. A longer note with room for bold text, lists and links.
  • A linked project. This files the note under one of your projects, so you remember which job it belongs to. The project name shows next to the note. It stays private to you.
  • A reminder. A date and time when Wyroo nudges you about it.

Open notes are ordered for you: the ones with a reminder come first (soonest at the top, overdue ones flagged), then the rest by most recently added.

The fastest way to capture a thought is the quick-add panel, which opens from anywhere in Wyroo.

  1. Press Cmd+E (on Windows or Linux, Ctrl+E).
  2. Type your note.
  3. To add several at once, put each one on its own line. Every line becomes its own note.
  4. Press the button to add them.

You can also open this panel with the New note button at the top of the My notes page, or with the same button in the My notes section of your dashboard. If you open it from inside a project, the new notes are automatically linked to that project.

Tip: The quick-add panel is built for a brain-dump. Paste a whole list, one item per line, and Wyroo splits it into separate notes for you.

How to add detail, a project or a reminder

Section titled “How to add detail, a project or a reminder”

The quick-add panel only takes a title. To add more, open the note.

  1. On the My notes page, click a note to open it.
  2. Add or change the description.
  3. Pick a project to file it under, or leave it as a personal note with no project.
  4. Set a reminder by choosing a date and, if you want, a time. If you pick a day but no time, Wyroo uses 09:00. Leave the date empty for no reminder.
  5. Save.

Reminders use your company’s time zone, so the time you pick is the time you will be reminded.

When a reminder is due, Wyroo lets you know in a few ways at once: a notification inside the app, an email, and a browser push notification if you have turned those on. Each reminder fires once, so you will not be nagged repeatedly. Mark the note done before its reminder time and it will not fire at all.

Use the search box at the top of the page. It looks in both the title and the description and filters the lists as you type.

When a note is really shared work for the team, promote it to a card on a project’s board.

  1. Open the menu on the note (the three dots) and choose Create card, or use the menu inside the editor.
  2. Wyroo can draft a cleaner card title and description for you. The wording is just a starting point, so edit it freely.
  3. Choose the project the card belongs to. This one is required, because a card always lives on a board.
  4. Create the card.

The new card lands at the top of that project’s first column and opens straight away, so you can add an assignee, a deadline or files. The original note is marked done and keeps a small link back to the card it became.

To create a card you need permission to contribute to that project. To learn what goes on a card, see Working with cards.

  • Your open notes also appear on the dashboard, where you can tick one off without opening this page.
  • Ticking a note done does not delete it. It moves to Completed, and you can tick it back open any time.
  • Deleting a note is permanent. There is no undo, so delete rather than complete only when you are sure.
